Our 2016 Tres “GSM” blend is the perfect showcase of an outstanding vintage. The color is a deep garnet. The nose has a hint of sandalwood, fresh plum, orange blossom, Bing cherry and cardamom. The palate is rich and surprisingly fruit forward, with hints of raspberry coulis and roasted fig. The finish is big, rich, long and lingering.

Vineyard Notes
2016 finally brought much needed rain to Sonoma County, temporarily ending our drought woes. The water helped the vines immensely and we had a beautiful growing season from bloom to harvest. The crop size was about average. The year was clearly a standout producing beautiful flavors from this vintage.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes for our Tres blend were picked, fermented and aged separately. We picked each variety by hand, sorted by hand, then de-stemmed and gently crushed each lot. Each of the varieties was fermented in a stainless steel open top tank, cold soaked for 3-5 days then inoculated and punched down 2-3 times per day. After fermentation, the wines were put to neutral oak barrels and aged for 15 months. The blend is 1/3 Grenache, 1/3 Syrah and 1/3 Mourvedre. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine pairs with almost everything from grilled salmon with a soy and honey glaze to sausage and mushroom risotto and is always one of my favorites with dinner.
