Vineyard Notes
2021 was a beautiful vintage. The winter was quite dry with far lower than average rainfalls with a few spring rains that helped us out. The growing season was warm and very even, without any adverse weather events. We picked slightly earlier than usual and because of the very small crop, flavors are intense and concentrated.
Production Notes
Our Morningsong Estate Chardonnay was picked by hand in the early morning hours and immediately put into the press. The juice went straight to neutral French oak barrels where indigenous fermentation took about 4 weeks to complete and no malolactic was allowed. After fermentation, the wine was kept on primary lees for 10 months before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
This wine comes from our Morningsong estate vineyard Clone 4 Chardonnay. We picked this slightly riper than our other Chardonnay in order to allow for full development of flavor in each cluster.
