Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This is such a fun wine. It’s a lighter bodied red with a beautiful claret color. The aromas are super fruity with bright berry tones, crunchy red cherry, orange zest and a touch of baking spices. The palate is fruit forward with bright berry bites, great well integrated tannins and delicate acidity on the finish. So delicious!
Vineyard Notes
This comes from our estate property, Morningsong Vineyard. This block is a new planting and this was the first year of fruit from it. We planted this as our block closest to Dry Creek, which really heightens the microclimate and gives us a very Rhone Valley like Mourvedre.

Winemaker Notes
2022 was another quite warm vintage. We had extremely low rainfall over the winter and spring, which caused for a very small crop. Some frost and hail hit us in April, which further reduced the crop. A very warm summer led to an early harvest as well. However, because of the incredibly low yield, flavors are heightened and absolutely delicious from this vintage. Our 2022 Mourvedre was made in two ways. The first lot was whole cluster fermented, where the clusters were placed in a fermentation bin after being foot treaded to break open the berries. The wine was pumped over for this lot rather than punched down. The second lot was destemmed and fermented in a stainless steel open top tank. This lot got a 4 day cold soak and was punched down twice daily. Both lots were drained, pressed, barreled down and aged separately for 16 months and then our favorite barrels were blended together before bottling.
