Amista 2020 Grenache

Amista 2020 Grenache

This is such a gorgeous and complex vintage of our Grenache. Notes of red currant, black tea, sandalwood, and black cherry are just some of the aromas in this wine. Beautiful rose petal notes perfume the aromas and palate. Bright red fruit notes dominate the front palate but the mid and back palate has great weight and texture with some well-integrated tannins.

Vineyard Notes
2020 was a vintage to remember. From early on in 2020, the vintage was quite warm. Bud break and set happened very smoothly, and the crop size was considerably smaller after two large vintages. In the vineyard, all our varietals were concentrated in yields but delicious in flavors.
Winemaker Notes
The Morningsong Vineyard Grenache comes from two different clones planted on our property: 362 and 515. They were picked together, and both harvested first thing in the morning by hand. The grapes were sorted both in the vineyard and in the winery before being destemmed and left whole berry and put into bins. A saignée was done on each lot to concentrate the flavors in the must. The grapes were cold soaked for 2 days and then fermented on skins for 8 days. After being gently pressed off the skins, the wine was moved to used oak barrels where it completed malolactic fermentation. This wine was kept sur lie and stirred every other week until just before bottling. Our Grenache was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
