Amista 2022 Zinfandel Gene's Block
This is an extremely expressive vintage of our Zinfandel. Aromas of dusty black plum, black cherry, sandalwood, white pepper, cedar and a hint of dried red rose petal. The palate is filled with juicy red berry notes on the front complemented with lots of spice and pepper notes. The tannins are well-integrated and make for a long and lingering finish. This wine is stunning!

Vineyard Notes
2022 was another quite warm vintage. We had extremely low rainfall over the winter and spring, which caused for a very small crop. Some frost and hail hit us in April, which further reduced the crop. A very warm summer led to an early harvest as well. However, because of the incredibly low yield, flavors are heightened and absolutely delicious from this vintage.
Winemaker Notes
Our Zinfandel is hand picked and thoroughly sorted in the vineyard before coming to the winery and being destemmed and put into an open top tank. After a 5 day cold soak, the fermentation starts and the wine ferments on skins for 13 days before being drained and pressed to a tank for 24 hours of settling and then down to barrels for aging for 16 months.
