Vineyard Notes
This comes from our Morningsong Estate Vineyard Clone 4 Chardonnay. We picked this slightly riper than our other Chardonnay in order to allow for full development of flavor in each cluster.
Production Notes
Our Morningsong Estate Chardonnay was picked by hand in the early morning hours and immediately put into the press. The juice went straight to neutral French oak barrels where indigenous fermentation took about 4 weeks to complete and no malolactic was allowed. After fermentation, the wine was kept on primary lees for 11 months before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
2023 was a beautiful vintage. We had tons of rain all winter long and a very delayed budbreak and bloom. The summer was warm but temperate with no crazy weather. This allowed for a long hang time in all our blocks and a very slow ripening. The natural acidities were preserved in the grapes which made for lovely and ageable wines. This is a stand out and age worthy vintage.
